Ram 1500 clicking noise when starting
Jan 18, 2019 · Ram Year. 2015. Engine. 6.7 Cummins. Hey guys I have a 2015 2500 6.7 4x4 92,000 miles, truck has been very well taken care of with oil changes filter changes fluids everything. When I have my window down I can hear a clicking noise coming from what sounds like the front left part of the axle. The cadence of the sound correlates with the speed. Turn the key and get a single click. Turn the key a few more times and get more single clicks. Turn the key again and the car fires right up. The solenoid in the starter has power and ground but it sticks. After a few turns on the key it frees up and engages the starter motor.

The engine makes a loud ticking sound at all times. When idling, driving, clutch depressed or not. It seems to be coming from around the back of the engine or bellhousing area. Check your fuel level - sometimes a low fuel level can cause this problem. Check the oil level and make sure it is within the proper levels. Make sure the battery is properly connected. Check the ignition switch and make sure it's engaged.
