A lot of the community prints tend to keep city blocks to a 100x100 square or 3x3 chunk, which are for smaller, more-frequent trains rather than longer trains. 2. frumpy3 • 3 yr. ago. A City Block is the size of 4 Roboports and includes roads, power poles, lights and a big area for building a modular area. I generally have a number of different types of city blocks * Inbound logistics (Trains and storage areas) * Smelting and Processing (more of these are needed with Angels mods and Yuoki Industries)My design is simple, a highway surrounding 3x3 cells for the longer traffic. A penalty station at the entry and exit onto the 3x3 cells to prevent trains using it as a shortcut. Now I need a good place for my LTN depots. I use the design underneath which worked fine in the beginning of the world when it wasn't in blocks yet.Roboports have 50 logistics range, so those work better on a 100x100 grid. But I agree chunk-aligned is just better and easier to integrate with other chunk-aligned blueprints (mostly rails). I'm using 128x128, because that gives me space to also fit train stations and a stacker within the cityblock. edit: here is a screenshot of my block design.

I think I'm headed in the right direction, but I could use some pointers. System currently in development: !blueprint https://pastebin.com/mZfYUFfcHi everyone. As my next experiment in Factorio, I've started a "City block" map. For this, I'd need to design a "block" blueprint. As far as I cannot find a perfect blueprint in https://factorioprints.com/ (I mean none that fits my needs / please me), I'm planning to build my own this week-end.

There are blueprints of landfill you can find that are pretty big. Otherwise, find a lake, build a 50x50 or 100x100 then slap your block down then blueprint with entities and tiles. I'm also looking to make some new block design because I'm not entirely happy with Nilaus' setup. I think I can do better. 1.Sep 12, 2019 · City Block form and size discussion. by MisterFister » Thu Sep 12, 2019 7:44 pm. I've returned from a Factorio hiatus and have decided that my previous city-block plan of 4LP to a side is insufficient for my midgame needs. Typically a city block is expanded by one great bot network. Using bots to build everything from a distance. There's two huge drawbacks of city block bases: You are space constrained. Typically train networks are limited to 1-4-0 trains while on unconstrained bases 2-8-0 trains are very common

Place one pole so it's up against the inside edge of a chunk, then place the second pole so it's up against the opposite inside edge of the same chunk. Both poles should be entirely in the same chunk, but touching the edge. SinningForTheWinning • 2 yr. ago. TIL you can make chunks visible with an option. The number of city blocks that equal a mile is different in each city. Because there is no standard length of a city block in the United State, blocks vary in length across the country.I'm considering either no-left-turn RHD grid or offset-square (the one where city blocks are offset half their size across one axis, which makes T-only intersections). Regarding hexagons - I don't think they're really more efficient. My main argument is that Factorio's map is square aligned and doesn't allow for arbitrary element rotations.

Once the Mainbus Area starts outputting enough assemblers, inserters, rails, modules, and all the various parts needed to set up your City Block you move to City Block. That will accumulate huge amounts of trains just for fuel and also be a waste of space.
