Most offer utility and primitive camping and access to lakes, trails and wildlife areas. Meade State Park is located 13 miles south of Meade, KS on K23 Highway. The area can be driven to by driving south of Plains, KS 6 miles on blacktop county road 5, then driving east on blacktop county road V. The area can also be driven to by driving 17 miles east of Highway 54, two miles north of the Cimarron River bridge east of Liberal, KS. Meade Walleye Hatching Rack. Meade Fish Rearing Station is located 8 miles south and 5 miles west of Meade in Meade County Kansas. This Department owned complex of 1,244 acres encompasses Meade State Park and Fishing Lake, Meade Wildlife Area and Meade Fish Rearing Station. Meade Fish Rearing Station is the only hatchery in southwest Kansas.

Sep 17, 2017 · Meade State Lake is a nice oasis in southwest Kansas. I have never seen it overcrowded, but it does get used. This small lake offers fishing and camping. Camping is in the shade of big cottonwoods. There is quite a bit of land area for exploring. It is a good bird watching location. Mature , towering trees give plenty of shade and most sites have a water view, if not right on it . Stayed over a weekend , so there were many camping, but didn’t feel crowded.
