Oct 29, 2015 · A few days ago my 2010 avenger began to slightly overheat when idling. I checked coolant and fans, both seem to be fine, although every once in awhile when I shut my car off i can smell antifreeze, not an over powering smell,just get a whiff of it. When it starts to overheat, it hasn't gotten to the red zone, just goes a little above the normal. 2013 Dodge Avenger. Engine over heating randomly. Have changed water pump, belt, fan motor, upper hose, both thermostats, coolant fluid full. Engine runs normal until it heats up then dash gauge starts to modulate up and down slowly.
